Projects:

breakfast creek green bridge

Brisbane, Queensland

Project Description:

Permadec was engaged in the Breakfast Creek Green Bridge project to supply lightweight formwork panel systems tailored to the bridge’s construction and installation requirements. The project, delivered in collaboration with Brisbane City Council, SMEC, Georgiou, and Brady Marine, involved the offsite installation of Permadec panels to enhance efficiency and safety during construction.

Scope of Work

  • Custom Panel Design: Permadec supplied two different panel types, including skewed panels, designed to reduce onsite cutting and increase installation efficiency.
  • Offsite Installation: The bridge structure was preassembled at the Port of Brisbane, where Permadec panels were installed prior to transportation.
  • Lightweight Construction: Due to weight restrictions during the barging process and the bridge’s jacking into its final position, Permadec’s lightweight panels were essential.

Project Benefits

  • Reduced cranage onsite, as panels were installed before transport.
  • Improved site safety, with panels acting as a preinstalled working platform.
  • Increased efficiency, as reinforcement was laid in advance.
  • Minimised working at height risks, since panels were installed at head height during offsite assembly.

Project Impact

The Breakfast Creek Green Bridge will provide a safe cycling and pedestrian connection between Brisbane’s inner city and northern suburbs. As Brisbane prepares for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, this infrastructure will enhance accessibility and encourage active transport across the city.

Permadec’s expertise in lightweight panel solutions, detailed design, and offsite construction methodologies played a crucial role in the successful delivery of this landmark project.
